Valentine’s Outfit Inspiration

Valentine’s Day is still far enough away I have time to help plan our fun night with Jas and find an outfit to wear. I put together some of my favorite Pinterest inspired outfits and paired them with a couple of accessories to make the look perfect.

Suit + Tie Dinner

This bold color combo of blush with vibrant red is so daring and I adore it! Plus I love the boxy shape of the blouse with the flowy skirt; I will be able to eat every bite of a delicious dinner and not feel like everyone can see my food baby. I love the idea of a super nude nail (like Essie’s Tuck in my Tux), non-glitzy statement earrings and a pretty clutch to tie everything together. Plus, be spontaneous and adventure to your favorite dessert place after dinner.

Romantic Night In

Jas and I tend to enjoy a romantic night in rather than going out on Valentine’s Day. Rocking an oversized sweater dress with tall socks will keep you comfy and cute. You still seem snuggly, but showing a little bit of leg. And if you’re staying inside forget all that jewelry. Just rock some delicate studs and your favorite dainty necklace (I adore this arrow!) to keep your look simple. Sweep on some lip stain and you will keep your color even after all those kisses.

Lover's Picnic

If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm enough to star gaze on Valentine’s Day I’m jealous! No need to slip on heels and a skin tight dress to have a romantic night; throw on something warm and easy, like a sweater and scarf, break out your kicks and grab a blanket. If you decide to bring some snacks or beverages a backpack will prove to be chic and practical. Don’t forget to keep those lips hydrated and kissable. Smooches under the stars are the best!

Currently Craving: Handbags

I absolutely LOVE the purses Hello Korin is currently craving. I am drooling over the Juliana and would totally rock the Stacey while cheering on the Mercer Bears!

CC_HandbagsOne of my favorite parts about spring is cleaning out my closet to make way for last year’s warm-weather clothing that’s been stored away, and to see where I can add some fun new pieces. I also took some time last weekend to completely rearrange my closet into a sort of mini dressing room (I might post some photos later—it’s still semi in-progress), and in doing so I noticed that my bag game has been slipping. The majority of my collection consists of blacks and browns, with one fun emerald bag thrown in. Now that spring is upon us, it’s the perfect time to add some color to my wardrobe with a few light & bright handbags! Join me? Here are a few of my favorites:

1. “Mia” Satchel- T Tahari
2. “Juliana” Tote- Carlos by Carlos Santana
3. Weekender Bag- Kate Spade Saturday
4. “Stacey” Geometric Shoulder Tote- Handbag Heaven
5. Envelope…

Cropped Craze

Spring is right around the corner and I’m crazy about crop tops!

CropItSee below for close ups!

Dallas looks killer in her black Express mesh cutout crop top and Express full skirt. And she perfectly paired a pair of Express neutral heels.

The model looks especially sexy in her black high necked crop top and high waisted chiffon red skirt.

Who doesn’t love these neon pants?! The printed crop makes this outfit look effortless, but chic! Perfect for any time, day or night.

What says springtime more than a lace crop top? And these floral pants!

Heels, boyfriend jeans, stripes and a hat are just the way to spend a casual weekend with your man.

Powerful Pinterest

After day two of my new job I decided to kick back and spend some down time watching some TV and pinning. I always seem to find some really great board every time I get on, but tonight I spent almost my entire time on one pinner’s account specifically, Cristina Peralta . Everything she picked was fantastic! Her sense of style is sophisticated, chic, ultra feminine. If you haven’t seen of her boards you need to! Here are some of my faves –

It is Released!

Finally, I can breathe! The first issue of Speaking of Everything, Cocktails & Confetti, has been released! Whew!

Speaking of Everything's Cocktails & Confetti Cover

I’m so proud of this issue, maybe it’s because it’s the first one or maybe because it is start of something amazing. Inside this issue you will find witty articles written by brilliant up-and-comers and illustrations meant to beautify the world around. We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to February’s release.

As for 2014; happy new year! A little late. Between today and tomorrow I will be working on my new year’s resolutions, or should I say lifestyle changes. According to last year, I planned to do three things:

  • Photograph everything (& be in some of them): I did begin taking more pictures. Thank you Instagram for allowing me to document my life as a digital story. I look forward to using you again for 2014.
  • Do 100% every time: I did. I graduated from college with a GPA I’m proud of; I obtained a killer internship where I busted my tail; I began to make a dream of working on a magazine a reality; I obtained a new job that starts very soon with the killer company I interned with; and I worked the hardest to continue to develop a wonderful relationship with my best friend and beau.
  • Set aside 10 minutes for myself every day: I can easily say I focused on myself a lot this year and hopefully not in a selfish sense.

I can happily say that I feel good about what I accomplished in 2013.I was able to spend the last hours with some of the best friends anyone could ask for, some from college and some from high school. We had a blast at Atlanta’s biggest balloon drop in the Hyatt Regency. After the large cocktail/formal fun I think we all agreed to come back to that party next year.

NYE 20132014Now it’s time to kick off 2014 the right way and get back to working on Speaking of Everything. Please, don’t forget to go check out Cocktails and Confetti; make sure to ‘like’ the Facebook page and leave any feedback you have for our next issue. Happy Thursday!

Weekend Pampering

Okay it was actually Thursday, but that’s close enough to the weekend right?

Thursday night I wanted to pamper myself a little. I don’t do it often, but when I do I usually grab a face mask and call it a day. But after talking to Hello Korin, telling her about my dislike for my long overdone ombred locks,  she gave me courage to try boxed hair color. She reminded me that mid semester last year, I helped her spread the color through her hair and when it was all done she looked killer with a darker shade. My hair is naturally a rich brown so I assumed there wouldn’t be a problem going a hue or two darker.

Before diving into the unknown I made sure to research what are some of the best in-home coloring treatments; here is one of the articles. I also made sure to find a brand that had demi-color. If the color didn’t turn out the way I wanted I didn’t want to be permanently stuck. I ended up choosing Clairol, based on my reading and time frame; plus helped that Hello Korin had used Clairol before so I had seen how to color fades out over time, maintaining a natural look.

So I took the plunge and gathered my supplies:

  • Clairol Natural Instincts hair color (I chose to use Nutmeg {28})
  • Shower cap
  • Hair clips
  • 20 minutes

It seriously only took a total of 20 minutes. 5 minutes to spread the color, 10 to set the shade, and 5 more to rinse, condition, rinse again, and dry. Here are a few tips I learned:

  • Have a friend help
  • Follow the directions (whatever you do!)
  • Wear an old shirt you wont mind getting dirty

I love how deep the color turned out! And I am so glad Hello Korin reminded me to document the process. So here it is in picture form.  Have a happy hump day!
